National Cadet Corps is a
tri-Services Organisation,
comprising Army, Navy and Air Force,
engaged in grooming the youth of the
country into disciplined and
patriotic citizens.
History of NCC:
During the Independence movement,
leaders of our nation had realized
need to create a national level
youth organization, to train and
groom young boys as responsible
citizens and future leaders of our
great country in all walks of life,
including the defence forces.
Consequently, a committee under Shri
HN Kunzru was set up in 1946 under
the directives of the first Prime
Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,
to consider the establishment of a
nationwide cadet corps, which was
born through the Act of Parliament
on 15th July 1948.
Now, The National Cadet Corps
(India) is a voluntary organization
which recruits cadets from high
schools and colleges. The Cadets are
given basic military training in
small arms and parades. The officers
and cadets have no liability for
active military service. The motto
of NCC is "Unity and Discipline".
Community Service:
NCC has adopted community
development activities with the aim
of imbibing amongst cadets selfless
service to the community, dignity of
labour importance of self help, need
to protect the environment and to
assist weaker sections of the
society in their upliftment. This
was envisaged through programs
involving adult-education, tree
plantation, blood donation, visit to
Old Age Homes, slum clearance,
village upliftment and various other
social schemes. NCC cadets
participate in the following
community development activities :-
